Vacation for grown-ups

Tonight, I was going to pack for our vacation... And instead found myself doing 72647 other things, all prerequisites to the actual packing. I'm starting to understand why my mom always found getting ready to go on a trip so stressful - because when you have a home and a pet (and heaven forbid, kids) to worry about, there's so much more to "getting ready" than just throwing your stuff in a bag. All the laundry has to be done and put away. The kitchen has to be cleaned. The refrigerator has to be emptied. The living room has to be straightened. Who wants to come home from a nice, relaxing vacation to a messy house and dirty clothes? Not me! So while I've been "getting ready" for almost four hours now, there isn't actually anything IN my bag. I've just poured a glass of wine, and I've got to admit, I pretty much feel like this little guy:

Haha, so true! My boyfriend and I just got back from vacation and I wish I had spent more time putting away laundry and straightening up before we left. Unpacking is enough of a chore w/out having old laundry to squeeze in. Hope you have a great vacay!

LISTS LISTS LISTS my dear! Make a list of EVERYTHING you need to pack.... then once you know what you need, getting off track won't feel so bad because you can just go right back to that list where you left off... or back to where you WERE going to start... TRUST ME, you will need them when you have kids ;-)

Isn't that the truth - I am the WORST at unpacking, and it's just made worse if I don't clean up before we leave! Definitely recommend that tactic...

Hahahaha honestly, Jess, I AM a list-maker - one of the worst! But it seems like no matter what list I make, there is another that needs to be made. If I list the things to pack, I need a list of things to clean to pack, and if there's a list of things to clean, there's a list of things to put away... I am one never-ending list ;) I can always find another thing to do before I tackle the list. Issues! haha
