Coffee Talk #4

Hi friends. This is a weird week - I worked from home on Tuesday and I'm completely disjointed because of it. How is it already Thursday?! It's a bit rainy and overcast today, but yesterday was absolutely gorgeous, and C & I went for our first neighborhood walk of the season - it was delightful! Have you been taking advantage of the nicer weather yet??

It's one of those days where I've got a million random thoughts taking up space in my head... perfect time for a coffee break, no? Grab a cup o' Joe (or whatever you fancy) and join me.

  • The first coat of paint went up in part of the house yesterday, and to say that I am thrilled would be an understatement. The ridiculous brick-red walls in our office are GONE and the room already looks a million times better. We are living in a complete state of disarray this week, but I can already see proof-positive that it will be worth it.
  • I went for a run on Tuesday and it was absolutely awful. What was supposed to just be a quick 4-miler along my favorite path turned out to be slow and hard and almost vomit-inducing. Not sure why it was so terrible, but I felt ill at the end and I was late picking up C from the train so it was just all-around lame. On to the next one!
  • On a related note, I’ve set a personal goal to run 50 miles in April. I have a 10-miler at the end of the month and a half marathon next month, so it’s time to get my booty back on the road and commit to the runs. Per bullet above, I have run 4 miles total in April. Progress, my friends. HA.
  • I desperately need to update my wardrobe a bit. I finally bit the bullet and bought a few new cardigans last week because I looked at myself in the mirror one day and realized I’d actually worn holes in the elbows of my favorite gray one. The “hobo” look is not exactly what I was going for. Whoops. So. Who wants to go shopping?
  • Etsy is such a black hole. I have been searching for some new wall art to accent our freshly-painted walls, and I thought Etsy would be a good place to go, but the truth is, there is just SO MUCH ON THAT SITE that I have no idea where to begin. Anyone have any recommendations?...
  • Am I the only person in America who doesn’t watch How I Met Your Mother? I feel like I must be. Twitter and Facebook exploded around me on Monday night, and I was all “The Voice is on, y’all…”
  • Always the last to the party, I know, but I finally read Divergent. And by read, I mean devoured – I finished it in three days. And immediately wanted to start the next one! Why didn’t anyone tell me I should read this book, guys?! (Ha.) C is now reading it and I made him promise we could go see the movie as soon as he finishes.
  • Late to the party AGAIN... I just watched Magic Mike this week (thanks, HBO OnDemand!). I can see why it got everyone so... riled up. The story was pretty dumb, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't designed for the quality plot and character development.
  •  It is April, which is officially the hardest month. My apologies if content gets a little light around here… I always have trouble finding the right words around this time of year.

So tell me...
  • Too many odd thoughts here for any good questions... how are you today? Leave me a note and say hi :)

I set my April goal to run 50 miles also! I've never watched How I Met Your Mother either - I'm all about The Voice too - especially this season!

I would have told you that you have to have all three books ready and waiting before you even start!

I work at Ann Taylor if you feel like shopping at Tyson's Corner!

I'm right there with you. I always hate April. It's also active shooter training month where I work. I just can't.

On a lighter note - let's go shopping! :D
